One of LOFOB’s biggest running costs, as a free service to clients is that of transport. Over 100 000km’s is travelled each year transporting blind toddlers to the preschool as well as adults from across the metroploe to the centre. The yearly cost for running this service is projected at over R500 000.
Team sports programmes over the weekends require on average that a minimum of 300km be driven per day.
LOFOB also makes its transport available to other recreational clubs that are affiliated to LOFOB to make use of their vehicles to transport blind and visually impaired persons to recreational activities. We welcome your continued support to keep this service running efficiently.
All maintenance costs are borne by LOFOB. This remains an invaluable part of the services offered, as transport remains one of the inhibiting factors for the inclusion of blind and visually impaired persons in most activities. The public transport system within South Africa still has to improve considerably to ensure the ease of movement of VIP’s.
